Introducing the RVNG 5” Hydroformed S58 Downpipes — designed for owners who want maximum flow, faster spool, and a more aggressive exhaust note from their G80 M3, G82/G83 M4, or G87 M2.
Most traditional S58 downpipes on the market use a 3” or 3.5” design, which is already an improvement over the restrictive factory catalytic converters. However, our hydroformed design takes flow capacity even further with a massive 5” inlet section to reduce turbulence and improve exhaust gas transition directly out of the turbo.
To put the sizing into perspective:
A traditional 3” downpipe has roughly 7.07 square inches of cross-sectional area.
A 3.5” downpipe has roughly 9.62 square inches of cross-sectional area.
A 5” inlet has roughly 19.63 square inches of cross-sectional area.
That means our 5” inlet offers approximately:
178% more flow area than a 3” downpipe
104% more flow area than a 3.5” downpipe
2.78x the area of a 3” pipe
2.04x the area of a 3.5” pipe
The result is a downpipe designed to support serious power while helping reduce back pressure, improve turbo response, and unlock the raw sound of the S58 platform.
Unlike standard pie-cut or traditional mandrel-bent designs, our hydroformed construction allows for smoother transitions, better packaging, and improved internal flow characteristics. Each set is built from high-quality stainless steel and designed for direct fitment on both RWD and xDrive S58 models.
COMMON SIZING MISCONCEPTION:
You may hear people say, “bigger exhaust piping kills low-end torque.” On a naturally aspirated car, there can be truth to that. Exhaust diameter plays a major role in velocity, scavenging, and torque curve behavior.
But the S58 is not naturally aspirated.
On a turbocharged engine, the downpipe sits after the turbocharger. The priority is reducing restriction after the turbine, not creating backpressure. Less post-turbo restriction allows exhaust gas to leave the turbine more efficiently, helping the turbo work against less resistance.
The RVNG 5” hydroformed inlet gives the S58 more flow area directly at the highest-pressure point of the downpipe, then smoothly transitions through the hydroformed body to reduce turbulence and maintain proper packaging.
